Dean circa 1982 with his first (proper) Premier kit, we actually prised him away from it eventually....erm about 1994, I think it was......oh by the way they're joined at the hip again now !!
The boys circa 1985, this was a promo shot for their new signing press, they had just signed to HM/FM Records.
The bands first instore signing, at HMV in Birmingham town centre, this was about 30 minutes before they were due to start signing, and Dave joked, hey I'd feel a right prat if nobody turned up, Kev smiled but we were all thinking the same........amazingly about 150 people turned up and jammed the shop, they all bought copies of the Too Young album....were HMV happy, you bet your sweet bippy !!....and the band were pretty pleased too !
Dean circa 1985/86 with his new Ludwig kit, just after Briar played their first big venue, the Digbeth Irish centre and Dean went totally over the top, using 4 bass drums...and like a million toms, it looked great but !! well....that was the 80's for ya !! tee hee !!
Briar backstage at The Railway, Curzon St Birmingham, at this point the band were riding the crest of a wave, labels were interested, they had had a good selling album (Too Young) and everywhere they played it was rammed...you can tell how good it was, if you look closely, it looks like Dean hasn't slept for about 3 weeks (he hadn't).......yep good times !!
Promo shot circa 1986/87, it was later used for the Crown Of Thorns promo shot !
Band promo shot circa 1989, the band as a 4 pce unit was kind of at the end of the line at this point, shots were used from this session for the Gimme All You Got single release.
The band swelled at this point, but it wasn't long before Dave & darren had left for good, end of an era for sure, never quite the same I'm sorry to say !!
The last Briar lineup, made a decent album, but never regained that earlier vibe.
