Personnal Profile: Dean Cook.
Dean got his
first drum kit early in the eighties, it was a blue pearl "Beverley"
kit, he got it for christmas and quickly learned how to make a
huge noise on it from friend George Bond.
He formed Briar (at the time called ARC) with Kevin Griffiths in
the late 70's, before he had actually got his first kit, it was
kitchen stools which acted as drums at first.
Dean & Kev went to Hodge Hill school together and formed the
band with friends Dean Rogers & Dave Tattum.
Dean has now been playing drums (properly) getting on for 19/20
years, phew !, and Dean & Kev still write & record
together from time to time at Dean's studio, their last project
called "This Is.....".
Dean has got fingers in many pie's and has currently got two
personnal writing/recording projects on the boil: tenboy, an
acoustic pop/rock act www.tenboy.co.uk and Machine Boy,
an Electronic/dance outfit www.machineboy.co.uk plus he is
recording with guitarist friend Clive Pearsall under the name
Hobo, a blues/rock act, Dean co writes songs & sings.
He is currently recording albums (as a drummer) with two live
acts, Tinybluechildren
www.tinybluechildren.com who are a rock/pop
band in the vein of Pearl Jam, plus New Delhi Frieght Train, an
originals country/rock/bluegrass band (which also includes ace
fiddler Pete Hartley).
He plays live gigs with the following bands: Gerry Riley's Smokin
Mixture (Blues/Rock), Heart & Soul (Soul), Sticky Liquor (Blues),
ZZ Stop (Tribute), The Cheetahs (50's Tribute), Tinybluechildren
(Rock originals) & New Delhi Frieght Train (Country/Rock),
and has also recently been doing session drum work with the likes
of The Tris Spencer Band.
He has also done some drum technician work for Bev Bevan (ELO pt2)
on a German/Dutch tour.
Dean has recently been doing a bunch of acoustic sets featuring
tenboy songs with Tinybluechildren guitarist Ben Alexander, plus
a number of short film, extreme sports & documentary makers
have been using Deans music in various film projects.
